Expanding on the configuration of the popular 360 LT M model, the new Collings 360 Baritone opens up a whole new range of sonic possibilities. The comfortable offset body style, 27.5" scale, and stable Mastery bridge and tremolo create a playability and string tension feel that will make any traditional electric player right at home. Dual Lollar Alnico Pole P90s beautifully communicate the rich, woody qualities of the baritone sound combined with the acoustical focus and punch of the 360 body style. A classic staple of surf, rockabilly and country recordings electric baritones have recently found favor with a wide spectrum of players from jazz to metal. It's a great inspirational composing platform.

CRAIG'S POV

I love baritone guitars. Be they electric or acoustic, baritones have been part of my studio arsenal for years. In addition being a joy to play, they are inspiring. Their lower register, paired with the right scale length and electronics opens another dimension. Many times, I find that if I'm stuck in a musical rut, the baritone has been my way out. Play a G add 9 chord on a guitar - blah!  Play the same chord on a baritone and voila - pure magic. The creative door swings open and I'm off and running. Just ask Pat Metheny how baritones upped his acoustic game— I am the guy who turned him on to them via my Linda Manzer fabulous acoustic baritone.

Which brings me to the Collings 360 baritone electric currently in the shop. Not to put too fine point on it, it's a home run. It's a wonderfully inspired - and inspiring - instrument. If I were to buy another electric baritone, this is the one I'd get. So take the plunge, experiment and go deep. It might not change your life but it will change your music. Go baritone!

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
