Collings CJ45 T

As with all the Collings Traditional Series guitars, when it came time to add a “T” designation to the slope-shoulder offerings, Collings didn’t simply tweak the original; the all-new Collings CJ-45 T is a fully re-imagined instrument that offers a distinct tonal variation when compared to Collings' CJ and CJ-35 models.

Strongly vintage-inspired, the body construction has been completely re-engineered, including new bracing carves and patterns. When combined with the latest T-Series neck design and new CJ-45 neck profile, the result showcases a tone that is exceptionally dry and fundamental with the growl and thump sought after in the great slope-shoulder dreads of the wartime era.

It's a beast! This Collings CJ 45 T has just blown my mind. Everything is dedicated to the joy of making music. It's a guitar you can't hide behind; it's an honest representation of you, the player--with no frilly, "reverby" overtones to cover you up. Put another way: it’s music in, music out. And it’s glorious music to boot.

With its solid fundamentals, thick trebles, and balanced bass, this CJ45 T is the perfect acoustic to accompany a singer, for recording or just plain inspiration. This sunburst beauty is Collings' tip of the hat to pre-war Gibsons, and man, did they nail it. Neck alert! - if you like big round '30s carve necks, this baby will be right up your alley; it's large but so comfy and just perfectly profiled. If you prefer small, tiny wimpy ass neck carves, I suggest you stop reading now. This is the real deal.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality.
