A beautiful amber burst finish, served up with a spectacular quilt maple top, and an eye popping chevron figured grain pattern. Truly one of the sweetest premium pieces of quilted maple that we've seen in quite some time. Paired with a select Honduran mahogany body, neck, and Madagascar rosewood fingerboard, this CL is a fine wood lovers dream.
Crafted with the finest seasoned maple and Honduran mahogany, the CL Deluxe is built for tone. Lightweight, resonant mahogany, with a carefully hand-set mortise and tenon joint, bring tonal complexity to the table in spades.
CRAIG'S POVI just have to start by saying that this Collings has the most elegant combination of CL Deluxe options I've seen. When I ordered it, I wanted it to represent what a CR Guitars' take on an LP-style guitar should be.

When I spec an order with Collings, I always request to sort for the lightest weight wood I can get, and once again, Collings came through for me. It's 8.25 lbs of woody, resonant goodness. That translates into an organic rumbly wall of sound when pushed through an amp - real woman tone stuff here. Pull it back a bit, and you'll get a great R & B thing going. Or twist it up and go funky Robben Ford-ish.
The neck is sweet and comfy, and like all Collings, the fit and finish are impeccable.
This guitar has that something that inspires me to play. And it has that elusive quality that haunts you after you put it down. All you want to do is pick it up again and start playing. To me, that's the sign of a great guitar.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
