Collings Eastside LC Custom Faded Crimson

With fully-hollow laminate construction, a single Lollar Charlie Christian and archtop style tailipiece/bridge, the Eastside LC has been designed with vintage tone in mind for the professional jazz player.

Another Collings Eastside has arrived and what a stunner!! I just love the new '59 faded crimson finish that Collings offered and along with the single Lollar Charlie Christian pickup, this guitar has a really warm vintage esthetic. I custom ordered this guitar with a bound fingerboard, an option only previously offered on the deluxe model. To me, the bound fingerboard just brings the elegance of the guitar up a notch. The sound is classic jazz but with a certain nod to the modern.

There is more evenness of tone and harmonic clarity here than is usually available in traditional jazz guitars. I think that is partly due to the custom Lollar CC pickup and partly because the build is so, well, "right." As with all Collings, the fit and finish are perfect and the neck profile is hand carved to a sweet feeling medium/fat C. For an archtop, this guitar seems to drive itself. An excellent choice for anyone who wants to add a touch of luxury to their Collings Eastside.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality.
