This is a guitar Larry Carlton would love. A guitar John Scofield would love.  Oozing with creamy articulation, it’s got a very fast pick attack and a more laser-like sound than the carved version.

It feels like you just got home to a guitar model you’ve always loved. The 50’s neck style is just impeccable, and the finish, awesome and meticulous.

The newest addition to the Collings I-35 Series features high quality laminate construction (LC) that faithfully reproduces the vintage semi-hollow tone and response desired by professional working musicians. Built alongside their solid wood counterparts with the same meticulous attention to detail, the new LC's offer a unique tone that expands upon the sonic palette of the Collings electric line.

CRAIG'S POV

Bill Collings has justifiably earned an enviable reputation for his I-35 Deluxe, a sold wood, hand carved semi-hollow masterpiece. While it may resemble a Gibson model with “35” in its name, it was never conceived to sound like one. The Collings I-35 is its own thing, with its own bag of goodnees baked right in.

The I-35LC, on the other hand has a laminated top (hence the “LC”). It’s got the full 335 mojo. And not just any 335 mojo. It feels like a brand new 1959 ES-335 just arrived in the shop. It’s that great.

This is a guitar Larry Carlton would love. A guitar John Scofield would love.  Oozing with creamy articulation, it’s got a very fast pick attack and a more laser-like sound than the carved version.

In my hands, it feels like I just got home to a guitar model I’ve always loved. The 50’s neck style is just impeccable, and the finish, awesome and meticulous. (Collings is just superlative at this kind of thing).

Like I said about its Sunburst brother, the I-35 LC raises the bar for any laminate semi-hollow double cutaway, modern or vintage. Honest. You just have to play it for a while and you’ll know I’m telling the flat out truth.  It’s a great guitar.

It does, however, present you with a choice: What do you like better? This Natural finish, or the Sunburst version just a few mouse clicks away. They’re both great, cool, fabulous guitars. You can’t go wrong either way. But you can go right either way.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
