Inspired by the classic 1959 "LP"-style guitar, the '59 Spec takes our Set Neck Custom model and "decks it out" with features reminiscent of that famous instrument ... classic aged trapezoid inlays, aged single-ply cream neck and body binding, custom “period correct” electronics and gold top hat knobs, but with impeccable Grosh quality, tone, feel and playability.
Relive those classic tones and features but in a package that is far more balanced, comfortable and effortless to play. The '59 Spec also comes standard with a CITES certified, passport-protected Brazilian rosewood. Featuring master-grade, tone-tapped woods, old-growth Honduran mahogany, AAAAA maple, ultra-thin nitro-lacquer finish and handcrafted Grosh pickups.
CRAIG'S POVIf what you are looking for is amazing playability and a supremely beautiful guitar, one that is based on a classic format, handmade to the highest standards with the very finest selection of woods, then I think this Grosh '59 should be on your radar. Its got a very buttery feel with a very up front and present resonance - very soulful sounding. The neck shape and fingerboard radius are really built for comfort - full, round and wonderful. An exceptional Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and AAAAA flame maple carved top gives this '59 added elegance. Grosh pulled out all the stops here with this very special 2011 Namm presentation guitar. Just out of a collection this lovely preowned stunner is in the same condition as when I originally sold it. Don built this model in very limited numbers and is currently not taking any new orders on set neck guitars. This type of guitar is very labor intensive and once production begins again, Don has informed me that the pricing will be significantly higher. If you are looking for an extremely well built, beautiful and excellent playing LP style guitar, I think that this rare '59 Spec is worthy of your consideration.
