Inspired by a certain classic 1950s-era hollow body guitar, the HollowTron is a Bigsby-loaded, full-hollow version of Grosh’s set neck guitar featuring TV Jones pickups and "cat-eye" f-holes. The HollowTron captures the essence of that classic tone but goes much further ... country, jazz, blues, roackabilly or rock, it's all there.

The HollowTron captures the essence of that classic tone but goes much further ... country, jazz, blues, roackabilly or rock, it's all there. With the full-hollow mahogany body, maple top and pickup selection, the HollowTron is an astoundingly versatile instrument with vibe and tone all its own ... another modern classic from Grosh with unmatched quality, tone, feel and playability. Featuring master-grade, tone-tapped woods, old-growth Honduran mahogany, AAAAA maple, ultra-thin nitro-lacquer finish and handcrafted Grosh pickups.
CRAIG'S POVThe HollowTron is another fine example of Don Grosh's deep guitar making skills. On the first level, there are few builders who've gained their reputation building bolt- on neck guitars and then can turn around and build a world class set -neck guitar. At a deeper level of skill, few of those builders can tune into a particular vibe of a certain guitar, and then distill that character into an instrument. And at the deepest level, very few builders can then infuse that distilled vibe into a "complete thought" - a finished guitar that is all their own. One that is inspiring and original, yet has an esthetic that is warmly familiar. The select woods, fit and finish of this HollowTron show Don Grosh at the top of his game. After all, this is a Namm Show 2011 guitar. The TV Jones pickups are rich and mid-rangy, with the right amount of brightness for them to go from indie to rockabilly and pretty much everything in between. And, of course, as with all of Don's guitars, the playability is wonderful. Truth is, I wouldn't offer any guitar by any builder that doesn't meet my crazy "playability" standards - I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
