Jörg Tandler “Beauty” Electric, 2018

Jörg Tandler's LP design, called Beauty, was built with 1950's tones in mind. Some improvements are a smaller sturdier linear headstock design for better tuning, an overhauled truss rod design, an original hot lacquer '50s finish with mineral fillers. The hand carved top is a vintage carve along with a compound radius fingerboard. Renowned pickup wizard Harry Häussel (known for his work for other esteemed german builders such as Ulrich Teuffel) crafted these PAF style pickups.

Jorg Tandler's "Beauty" is his remarkable reimagining of a classic design. Having not played one of his instruments before, I wasn't sure if it would stand alongside the array of excellent boutique LP style guitars available today. My verdict: Jorg's reputation as a master luthier is well-deserved. This beauty is a superb guitar. Not only can it keep pace with its brethren, but it actually outpaces all but a very select few.

I am absolutely impressed with Jorg's masterful craftsmanship. He creates each guitar by hand, without CNC, and has imbued this guitar with pure audio goodness. The pickups he chose are exemplary deliverers of the vintage voicing we all love. He has coupled that voice to a totally modern playability.

The sonic character is open and rich with a buttery warmth that I find addictive. The '58 neck profile is righteous. It's perfectly carved; just how a vintage '50s LP should feel.

Jorg's guitars are rare beasts.
