It’s always exciting for me to meet new builders, especially ones like Leonardo Buendia who possess such great skill, talent and soul. A former Somogyi apprentice, Leonardo has created a wonderful OMC that is currently available at CR Guitars. A sonic and visual delight, this guitar steps up when challenged with any playing style. It’s a wonderful fingerstyle guitar, very much what you’d expect from one of Ervin Somogyi's star pupils. It also responds beautifully when played with a pick, never becoming too brash or overly compressed; a truly versatile guitar. Visually stunning with gorgeous rosewood accents and an artfull rosette. Stunning workmanship and extraordinary playability from one of the best young acoustic builders on the scene.

ABOUT BUENDIA GUITARS
Leonardo Buendia was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a city steeped in tango and folklore music. The evocative croon of Atahualpa Yupanqui and invigorating dissonance of Astor Piazzolla’s Nuevo Tango stirred him to become a musician. Leonardo's fingers, ears, and spirit were awakened when the guitar became a part of his life. He studied popular Argentine music in the Music Conservatory Leopoldo Marechal, while concurrently studying tango privately with master Anibal Arias. When Leonardo decided to buy a high quality classical guitar, he paid visit to many of Buenos Aires’ guitar makers. Weeks later, still empty handed, he decided to build the elusive guitar himself. Buendia started his studies of guitar making with master luthier Ezequiel Moggia, a student of the renowned luthier Francesco Ponzo. Later, he moved to California, where he apprenticed to master luthier Ervin Somogyi for 3 years. Parallel to this full-time training in the construction of acoustic guitars, Buendia built his own guitars, drawing inspiration from the responsiveness and visual style that characterize the world-renowned craftsmanship of his teachers.
