cedar soundboard
A wonderful warm and woody sonority with a sweet and clear high end. The cedar top adds a "played in" quality immediately; this guitar sounds sweet right of the gate. The walnut body seems to add a bit of reverb to the sound quality while at the same time giving a bit of warm throatiness to the sound.
The 35 is for the serious player who can appreciate a whole new world of subtle tone colours and dynamic range.
CRAIG'S POVThere is something so wonderfully unique about a Lowden guitar. Something that feels so bespoke in its design. Something that strongly reflects the builder's esthetic, point of view and voice. I personally look for all those things when I've commissioned acoustic guitars from today's most gifted luthiers. And I'm so pleased to have found those attributes in this particular offering - a Lowden S35 WA/RC. The S body shape is Lowden's smallest body, yet arguably the loudest. This body shape along with the comfortable neck profile make any style, from fingerpicking, strumming or percussive picking, part of this guitar's set list.
If you are a fan of small body acoustics, as I am, this Lowden S35 should be on your short list of guitars to consider.
If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.
ABOUT LOWDEN GUITARS
Lowden guitars occupy a unique place in the pantheon of high-end flattops. With a loud and overtone-rich signature voice, unique construction details (including a split saddle and A-frame bracing of the upper bout), and a general vibe that differs from most classic American steel-strings, the guitars have found fans in such heavyweights as Pierre Bensusan, Paul Brady, Alex de Grassi, Richard Thompson, and many others. Lowden production began in 1974, and after several changes in management and manufacturing facilities, the guitars are now built in a small Northern Ireland shop under the direct supervision of company founder George Lowden.
