Preowned 2019, near mint

The Thames model is Max's modernized take on an OM-style instrument. Sonically it's full, rich, and balanced sounding, something to expect from a fine rosewood-body guitar. Still, it also has the open woody quality associated with mahogany acoustics. The neck profile is excellent, and with the 1 13/16" nut width, it is well suited for fingerstylists. Max was able to incorporate the best of both worlds in his wood recipe.

CRAIG'S POV

Condition: near mint

When the legendary luthier Ken Parker recommends a builder, I listen. Max, the Max of Maxmonte guitars in Italy, is a highly skilled craftsman who is also a wizard, a shaman, and a magician with wood. You only have to check out his website and youtube channel to see his array of wood and string creations. Harp guitars, electric and bass guitars, and steel string guitars, all built with an exquisite combination of tradition and modernity, decorate his site. Max is a true talent, and I'm delighted to have one of his beautiful steel string acoustics in the shop.

The Thames model is Max's modernized take on an OM-style instrument. Sonically it's full, rich, and balanced sounding, something I would expect from a fine rosewood-body guitar. Still, it also has the open woody quality that I love from mahogany acoustics. The neck profile is excellent, and with the 1 13/16" nut width, it is well suited for fingerstylists. I just love playing it. Max was able to incorporate the best of both worlds in his wood recipe.

Besides being an outstanding player, the Thames is an elegant visual treat. The 15" body size and delicately sloped shoulders bring a sense of elegance to the design.

I've said before that we’re living in a golden age of lutherie. For proof, look no further than this inspiring instrument. Max has it all going on. And this guitar is worth every penny.
