CRAIG'S POV

First off, I have to say that I really love this guitar. It's really unique, being the only guitar of this limited run from 2011 with Celtic inlays and Purple Hazel finish. And, by the way, Celtic inlays are no longer offered by Private Stock, now only available on PRS Collectors Series guitars. In addition, it is only one of four of this series that is graced with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. To top it off, the condition of this preowned beauty is extremely fine with no visible wear to speak of. The woods are spectacular, which is no surprise of course, being built by Private Stock. I'm particularly fond of the "Sinker" mahogany wood used for the neck. It's very rare, beautiful and has a wonderful tonal characteristic. The tones that emanate from this beauty are simply fantastic, truly one of the most versatile dual humbucker guitars I have played. Here is what PRS has to say about his 408 pickups:

"RS 408 pickups were designed to extend the guitar’s tonal spectrum by narrowing the field of the bass pickup to increase its focus and widening the field of the treble pickup to increase its sound field. This pickup configuration (comprised of four coils and offering eight sounds) stems back to Paul’s experimentation on the Sorcerer’s Apprentice guitars in the early 1980’s. Thanks to the simple but versatile switching system featuring mini-toggle switches that provide numerous combinations of humbucking and single coil tones, the 408 provides stunning articulation and musical clarity."

A perfect studio guitar and certainly a "voice" that could sing out in any live playing situation. From sweet to stinging it covers all the basis with the added ability to tweak away if you choose to play with the mini toggle switches.

This PRS Private Stock has all the bases covered. It's rare, beautiful, toneful and a joy to play. It's definitely WORTHY.

ABOUT PRS PRIVATE STOCK
Everyone has heard of PRS Guitars; they are one of America's great entrepreneurial success stories. But not everyone has heard of the Paul Reed Smith Private Stock instruments. These are special guitars, in every sense. That's what inspired us here at CR Guitars to seek them out; they conform perfectly to our vision of what "hand selected" really means. The goal behind the PRS Private Stock of instruments is not only to create the most beautiful and best playing guitars money can buy, but the best sounding. PRS works very closely with each order - through hourly discussions, experimentation, meticulous checks of every detail at each step in the process and making final tweaks when the guitar is complete - to make sure they are building the best guitars possible. If you get an extraordinary instrument from Private Stock that is equally as good as a family heirloom and a musician’s tool to make a living on, then the Private Stock goal has come to fruition.

“Whether built to your specification or ours, every Private Stock instrument is carefully guided through the process by highly talented, seasoned guitar makers, and each completed instrument is checked and signed by Paul Miles and me. From all of us on the Private Stock team, thank you for looking at and considering a Private Stock instrument. If you decide on a Private Stock guitar, we will give everything we have to make it the best instrument you’ve ever experienced.” - Paul Reed Smith
