Preowned 2004, excellent
Sadowsky's Jim Hall model is a guitar that speaks perfection in every way, from the fit and finish, to its selection of woods, to its wonderful liquid jazz tones. It is a guitar designed for the working musician, yet it is entirely worthy of being in any elite guitar collection - and that’s particularly true of this 2004 Jim Hall. Like early JH's, this guitar has a nitrocellulose finish and signature headstock. But in addition, this particular guitar is closely associated with Jim Hall himself.
CONDITION : the guitar is in excellent condition for being 18 years old. Some light scrapes, scratches and dings. A nitro filled dent on the back of the headstock, very little fret wear, some gold tarnishing on the pickup. The color is warm and vibrant.
Jim hall trusted Roger Sadowksy with maintaining his guitars for nearly 40 years. Over that time, they developed a close relationshp. So close that Roger and Jim began to collaborate on a Sadowsky model. They were committed to the idea that this would be a guitar that Jim would want to play, not just endorse.
The Sadowsky Jim Hall Guitar ultimately met all of Jim's requirements as a player.
After several prototypes, Roger refined the Jim Hall guitar by reducing the thickness of the top and back to provide a more acoustic response. He reduced the depth of the body to control feedback, designed a new ebony tailpiece with a string ground, and shaped the neck until it felt just right to Jim.
Incorporating Roger's sense of aesthetics and design, and Jim’s enthusiastic contributions, the result is a beautiful looking, feeling, and sounding guitar that was enthusiastically received by Jim Hall and many other players worldwide. Sadowsky Guitars is honored to have had this association with the premier jazz guitarist, Jim Hall. Jim passed away on December 10, 2013 and Sadowsky honors his memory with every Jim Hall model produced.
CRAIG'S POVSimply put, Roger Sadowsky's Jim Hall model archtop is one of my favorite jazz guitars on the market today.
I am a bit emotionally vested in this model, having been involved with its evolution. Over the years that Roger was working on its creation, I had the good fortune to play almost every iteration and prototype and had the open ears of Roger, who was willing to listen to my feedback and suggestions. The result is a classic jazz guitar that, in my opinion, is able to stand alongside any laminate archtop guitar made today.

It is a guitar designed for the working musician, yet I feel it is worthy of being in any elite guitar collection - and that’s particularly true of this 2004 Jim Hall I am currently offering. Like early JH's, this guitar has a nitrocellulose finish and signature headstock. But in addition, this particular guitar is closely associated with Jim Hall himself. Its original owner was a student of Jim's and also his producer at ArtistShare; in Jim's later years, he toured with and accompanied Jim in duo settings. Undoubtedly played and blessed by Jim, this beauty is a superb and inspiring guitar. Having played both Jim's #1 Sadowsky and the D'aquisto that inspired it, I can confidently say that this 2004 breathes that rarified air.

ABOUT SADOWSKY GUITARS
Mention the name Roger Sadowsky to your average guitar player, and you'll likely elicit a "Roger Who?" But that name is spoken in almost reverent tones amongst working musicians. Sadowsky has built this reputation by giving the modern guitarist and bassist what he needs--a no-nonsense, versatile, and reliable electric guitar that performs great and sounds better. Of course, these are claims made by every guitar company in existence; but Sadowsky Guitars is one of the very few companies that can actually back it up. Sadowsky Guitars is based in Long Island City, in Queens New York where founder Roger Sadowsky built the business from the ground up in 1979, after 7 years of guitar luthier training. Today, the Sadowsky company has around 10 employees and caters to guitarists such as; Walter Becker, Jim Hall, Chuck Loeb, Russell Malone, Jimmy Bruno, and Lee Ritenour.
