Designed for lovers of the classic "EL Five," the LS-17's appeal lies in its 17" wide body and 25 1/2" scale length giving the player a big, warm sound. The thinner 2 3/4" body makes the guitar much more comfortable to play and the 5-ply maple laminate construction helps reduce feedback. Targeted for the working musician, the LS-17 is a roadworthy instrument, optimized for amplified playing and priced affordably when compared to its carved siblings.

CRAIG'S POVI am a true believer when it comes to Roger Sadowsky's incredibly deep talent and skills. Whether it's his guitars, basses, electric guitars or archtops, his deep knowledge and understanding of what makes a player bond with an instrument has few peers. This almost zen quality is evident when you take a look at the “who’s who” on Roger's client list and the Sadowskys they have chosen to play.
This high level of quality and playability is obvious here in this beautiful new model, the LS-17.
First off, it is simply stunning. I love the caramel burst finish. It has a traditional look but with a tad bit of added elegance.
The contour of the neck is a very comfortable feeling medium C shape. The 1st fret depth measures at .840” and gently tapers up to .920” at the 10th fret. As with all Sadowskys the fret work and finish detail are impeccable.
While it’s laminated, it sounds as full to my ears as some carved topped guitars I've played. It certainly compares to any carved top L5CES as far as acoustic volume. Electrically it is everything a great archtop should be. It goes from Wes to Hall, from Metheny to Malone- it's all there.
Roger has added another dimension to his archtop voice with the LS-17. The 17" body, the 25 1/2" scale, and PAF pickup were all done to satisfy players who are used to a more traditional archtop. But all the particulars, and this is where Roger’s genius comes into play, were designed in such a way that the player could become one with his instrument. I wouldn't expect any less from this guitar.
If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.
ABOUT SADOWSKY GUITARS
Mention the name Roger Sadowsky to your average guitar player, and you'll likely elicit a "Roger Who?" But that name is spoken in almost reverent tones amongst working musicians. Sadowsky has built this reputation by giving the modern guitarist and bassist what he needs--a no-nonsense, versatile, and reliable electric guitar that performs great and sounds better. Of course, these are claims made by every guitar company in existence; but Sadowsky Guitars is one of the very few companies that can actually back it up. Sadowsky Guitars is based in Long Island City, in Queens New York where founder Roger Sadowsky built the business from the ground up in 1979, after 7 years of guitar luthier training. Today, the Sadowsky company has around 10 employees and caters to guitarists such as; Walter Becker, Jim Hall, Chuck Loeb, Russell Malone, Jimmy Bruno, and Lee Ritenour.
