CRAIG'S POV

This is a really special guitar because the Vintiquity series marks the reunion of Roger Sadowsky and the renowned Fender Custom Shop builder J.W. Black. Black worked in the Sadowsky shop from 1986 to 1999 in Manhattan. Toward the end of 1999 he went to work at the Fender Custom Shop as a master builder, where he stayed for 13 years. He then moved to Oregon to start his own business restoring and building guitars for clients all over the world. JW Black has a well established reputation as a master at finish work, particularly aged finishes, he practically invented it.

Roger and JW have kept in touch over all the years, and everyone is excited about their collaboration on the Vintiquity series guitars. Sadowsky makes the guitars, perfect as always, and JW Black does the finish work. These are Roger's first true relic guitars, and this one has an absolutely stunning finish.

The beauty here is in the depth of the finish, and the perfect aging that makes this guitar look like a well cared for beauty that has been played for 50 years, but not abused. To run your hands over this guitar is to imagine a deep history, with many musical accomplishments, yet it is ready for your music, whatever you want to play. The finish has an incredible level of perfection, and is a pure joy to play.

This guitar has Roger's modern C shape neck, so this really is the perfect guitar for someone who wants a vintage guitar but prefers a more modern neck profile. It has all the incredible playability that has helped earn Roger the reputation that he well deserves.

Roger's electronic package also takes S-style guitars into the future. In the past, guitarists had different guitars for different kinds of playing, but all of Roger's guitars have been developed to be stable, versatile instruments for professional players. New York players are a very demanding and unforgiving lot. The fact that Roger has built his world wide rep based from his New York shop says much about his excellence.

But you don't have to be a NYC guitarist, or even a working guitarist to benefit from the mastery of these two guitar making icons. Anyone who loves guitars can appreciate this fine guitar, ready for you to create your history, from bedroom playing to stadium rock, and everything in between.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT SADOWSKY GUITARS
Mention the name Roger Sadowsky to your average guitar player, and you'll likely elicit a "Roger Who?" But that name is spoken in almost reverent tones amongst working musicians. Sadowsky has built this reputation by giving the modern guitarist and bassist what he needs--a no-nonsense, versatile, and reliable electric guitar that performs great and sounds better. Of course, these are claims made by every guitar company in existence; but Sadowsky Guitars is one of the very few companies that can actually back it up. Sadowsky Guitars is based in Long Island City, in Queens New York where founder Roger Sadowsky built the business from the ground up in 1979, after 7 years of guitar luthier training. Today, the Sadowsky company has around 10 employees and caters to guitarists such as; Walter Becker, Jim Hall, Chuck Loeb, Russell Malone, Jimmy Bruno, and Lee Ritenour.
