pre-owned, immaculate
It’s hard not to fall in love with this all rosewood beauty. First, there is the Beatles connection (George Harrison playing an all rosewood Tele on the rooftop during the Let It Be Sessions). Second, the guitar is in immaculate condition, having been sold by CR to a collector in 2013. Thirdly, and most important, this guitar plays and feels just incredible.
Well, it’s hard not to fall in love with this all rosewood beauty. First, there is the Beatles connection (George Harrison playing an all rosewood Tele on the rooftop during the Let It Be Sessions). Second, the guitar is in immaculate condition, having been sold by me to a collector in 2013. Thirdly, and most important, this guitar plays and feels just incredible. Certainly one of the very best rosewood T-style guitars I have ever played. It has all the sweet barking woodiness you’d expect without any of the muddiness that some rosewood guitars have. Its articulate and well defined tones just bloom when picked or strummed acoustically. Put through and amp this guitar can stand up to any style or genre you can imagine.
As always, Ron’s workmanship is beyond reproach- the fit and finish are just perfect. By the way, Ron painstakingly applied an oil rubbed finish here, that adds a wonderful warmth to the guitars natural patina. Another special touch is the flame maple center sandwiched between the chambered rosewood body. Really stunning addition!!
“George” is a very special guitar and since it’s pre-owned it is available at a very reasonable price.
If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.
ABOUT THORN CUSTOM GUITARS
Raised in a family of carpenters, Ron Thorn had access to a home wood shop for as long as he can remember. Repairing, modifying and building guitars since age 13, his specialty became precision inlay work and by the mid '90s he became the sole inlay artist for the Fender Custom Shop, a position he is still proud to retain today. In 2000 Ron began putting the Thorn name on the headstocks of some of the many guitars he was building and today, with his father and the rest of “team Thorn” - John Gaudesi, Nick Viglienzoni, Tony Ramirez, Glenn Matejzel and Martin Bravo, Thorn’s Glendale, CA operation builds approximately 50 custom guitars a year. Those who know, know Ron as one of the most brilliantly talented luthiers and inlay artists of the 21st century. It is a reputation that has earned him a following that is best described as "near fanatical."
