Preowned 2013, excellent
Jim Triggs is one of the few builders who really carries on the D'Angelico tradition; one look at the headstock and you'll see the continuity. This particular instrument is a 2013 custom 16" D’Angelico-style New Yorker, with a touch of classic Gibson L-5 CES added with its built-in, rather than floating pickup. It's a hard instrument to put down. If you're looking for a top of the line tradtional archtop that couples the DNA of the masters with a classic jazz electric tone, this Triggs New Yorker is a must to check out.
Condition: This 16" Custom D’Angelico style New Yorker archtop guitar has been lovingly played and cared for. There are a few minor dings and scuffs on the back, sides and binding. The top has 1/4" finish abrasion between the tailpiece and bass F hole. The nitro finish has settled nicely into the wood and has a warm vintage-like glow to it. Set up and playability are stellar.
CRAIG'S POVI believe Jim Triggs is one of the few builders who really carries on the D'Angelico tradition. One look at the headstock and you'll see what I mean.

Triggs builds archtops of the highest order - he's a legendary builder for a number of reasons, his materials and wood selections are absolute top class in this instrument. The back alone is just beautiful - check out the photos. He hand-carves his instruments; there are no machines here. This particular guitar was custom built for a player and collector who loves carved top archtops.
It's a hard instrument to put down. I've played many late '50s and early '60s D'Angelicos and Triggs has nailed the feel and vibe of those legendary guitars. I'm particularly smitten with the neck profile. It's spot on with that seductive feel that D'Angelicos and D'Aquistos have. Plus the 16" body makes it supremely comfortable to play.
