The voice of this guitar fits perfectly in the context of what you would expect from an electron nylon guitar but, it also opens the door to create your own individual style. Picture Sting or Earl Klugh using this in concert or a recording situation. Sambas, jazz, pop, classical styles all speak well with this superb playing instrument. And yes, it really is a thing of beauty to look at. AAAA grade maple for the body with a violin like burst finish.
Veillette nylon-string guitars address one of the biggest challenges in live performance — how to get a high quality, responsive amplified sound from a nylon-string guitar. Feedback, body and fret noise, and reduced freedom of movement are usually facts of life for nylon-string players. The Journeyman Electric Nylon-string guitar resolves these issues, applying the same approach as Veillette's steel-string instruments, with some specifically nylon-string detailing. The "electric" style neck offers a radiused fingerboard and 1.75" nut, offering electric and steel-string players the same gorgeous nylon-string tone with a more familiar neck profile. Feedback and extraneous noise are things of the past. Even high-volume performance situations, such as Latin bands, large auditoriums, and other demanding situations are no problem — a full-range, natural-sounding nylon-string sound can be had at any volume level.
CRAIG'S POVJoe Veillette has already had this model guitar in his catalog, but (as I have done with a number of other makers) I spent quite a bit of time working with him, as I felt there were a few refinements that could make it a more versatile instrument.
I had him reduce the nut width from 2 inches to 1 7/8ths. I also requested that he chamber the body to take off weight and add some more resonance.
We worked on the electronics to modernize its amplified tone.
I have to tell you; the results are stellar.
