This guitar also has very responsive tone controls, which in conjunction with the pick up configuration makes it an unusually toneful machine. Vince really has made a better bolt-on design, one that takes the best parts of history and brings 21st century ingenuity to the table, and the instrument, making for a forward-thinking design that is simply a joy to play.
The next generation of Vinetto's original Legato and Deuce series of solid electrics features a traditional 25" scale length neck, new front arm contour, Vinetto's uniquely vibey "Under the Bed" patina finish and comes in a variety of pickup combinations as well as a trem version in the Legato and Deuce SoftTail model.
CRAIG'S POVHere is another guitar from my personal collection. Vince Cunnetto of Vinetto Guitars wanted a Les Paul when he was a kid, but, like most of us, couldn't afford one, so he came to the more affordable Fender instead, and ultimately fell in love with T-style and S-style guitars. He has a deep history in the guitar world, and early on was doing relicing for the Fender Custom Shop as a subcontractor before developing his own designs and models.
The Legato was his first original design. The Legato evolved in his mind over years while working on other guitars. He didn't want to make a traditional bolt-on guitar with merely a new headstock design, as many makers were doing, but really thought about what made the historical designs tick, and what seemed to matter most and least to the individual designs. Restless, imaginative designers always bring the freshest ideas because they ask the most questions, and Vince asked many, many questions over the years, and his answers brought us the Legato.
This guitar is very comfortable to play. It just seems to merge with your body, thanks to its softer contours than many other bolt-on designs. You can clearly recognize the pedigree of the Legato, but at the same time, he's brought something new to the genre - the design is fresh and clean. At Vinetto they have re-imagined the bolt on guitar through the lens of a luthier with every piece of contemporary technology in hand. Because they've kept all the important hand work in the process, they've managed to retain all of the charm of the original designs. Vinetto has an interesting motto: "The more things change, the more they stay the same." That informs the way they think about guitars from top to bottom.
This guitar is exactly what you would expect from a luthier who has been passionately working to build the best guitars he can for many years. It has a sweet V to C neck that plays like butter, a T-style bridge for clarity, six saddles allowing for superior intonation, and a great set of pick ups custom made for Vinetto by Di Marzio. The neck and middle pick ups are mini humbuckers for warmth and a wide, deep sound, and the bridge is a single coil for articulation and tele spank. This guitar also has very responsive tone controls, which in conjunction with the pick up configuration makes it an unusually toneful machine. From my point of view, Vince really has made a better bolt-on design, one that takes the best parts of history and brings 21st century ingenuity to the table, and the instrument, making for a forward-thinking design that is simply a joy to play.
