Inspired by depression era Stella guitars
Besides its ultra-cool retro looks and feel, what's reall inspiring about this Waterloo is the wonderful warmth and richness of tone that exudes from this small bodied guitar. Though based on a depression era Stella, the WL-S Deluxe lacks nothing as far as quality and playability are concerned. This a wonderful guitar, gently priced, and an instrument that would add a voice to any guitar arsenal.
The new WL-S Deluxe possesses a richness, dimensionality, and warmth that must to be heard to be believed. Inspired by ornately appointed Stella guitars from the 1930s, the WL-S features intricate wood purflings and custom acrylic inlays for an appearance to match its detailed tone. A hand rubbed varnish finish completes the WL-S both aesthetically and tonally, with a beautiful vintage patina and acoustical excitability that brings out the nuances of this ladder braced design. Solid cherry wood back and sides further enhance the unique character of this guitar, providing exceptional balance and articulation.
CRAIG'S POVIt really didn't take me more than a few minutes of playing time to bond with this WL-S Deluxe, a new addition to Bill Collings' fantastic Waterloo guitar lineup. Besides its ultra-cool retro looks and feel, what really inspired me was the wonderful warmth and richness of tone that exuded from this small bodied guitar. Though based on a depression era Stella, the WL-S Deluxe lacks nothing as far as quality and playability are concerned. A carbon fiber T-bar running through the neck provides stability and efficient transfers of energy back into the body, producing a resonance you can feel. The hand rubbed varnish finish is so esthetically pleasing and adds that special something to the vibe of this guitar. I'm particularly fond of the neck profile which really has that correct vintage carve to it.
Bottom line, this a wonderful guitar, gently priced and in my opinion an instrument that would add a voice to any guitar arsenal.

ABOUT WATERLOO GUITARS
The Waterloo guitar line, which is produced by Collings Guitars, is a look back in time to when there was a genuine need for soulful tone that could be coaxed from simple instruments. The blues, country, and folk music played on these instruments was made in heartfelt response to the hard times of the depression era. It was music heard in work camps and barn dances, kitchens and honky-tonks, porches, street corners and churches. These musical styles became the roots of popular American music for decades to come. The Waterloo brand is all about capturing the voice and spirit of the very best depression era guitars in well-made and very playable instruments.
